At TreeHouse, we believe that good design is for everyone. One of the things that makes us human is the ability to admire, appreciate, and be affected by the way something looks & feels. Homes are a basic need, and one of the places where we spend most of our time. As such, good home design is not incidental to the good life, but rather integral. Our homes should not only shelter us, they should speak to us and remind us of the things we value.
We love for design to reconnect us with nature, and to inspire the way we think about the subject. One of the most important lessons we have learned from nature is that form and function shouldn’t be forced to compete but should complement and reinforce each other. Is the trunk of a tree a graceful & lovely form, or is it structural support? Answer: It is both. The best forms are those that have purpose and meaning, and the best functions are those that are executed beautifully, artfully, and with intention.
Good design should always support thoughtful building. That means materials should be sustainably and responsibly sourced with respect and concern for the natural environment. It means products used should not be known to cause health issues. Design, at the end of the day, should make the world a better place. There’s no better place to start than your home.
